Sailing Holidays with Trinity
"A week ago today, I came back from the most memorable five days. It
has taken a week to come back to reality. It has been a magical
experience & I will certainly book another holiday - it can't be
soon enough!" Ann
Take one of the finest traditional sailing vessels, add a group of
like-minded companions and a friendly professional crew, then set
sail for a week or more to explore some of the most spectacular
coastal scenery in Europe.
This is sailing the Trinity way.....
For those with a
sense of adventure, sailing holidays with Trinity are a friendly and rewarding way of getting away
from it all.
Our fleet consists of
four gaff-rigged boats, all built between
1892 and 1924. They are the former Brixham sailing trawlers
'Leader' and 'Provident', the gaff cutter 'Golden Vanity' and our
newly-acquired vessel, Spirit of Britannia, from Boston in
Lincolnshire.
Our sailing holidays
are a mixture of activity afloat, exploration ashore and pure
relaxation. We aim to arrive at a new harbour or anchorage each
evening after the day’s sailing. Whichever direction we head in
there are many interesting places to visit. On all cruises our
highly-trained, friendly and professional crew are on hand to ensure
maximum enjoyment and comfort.
On many cruises fixed itineraries are avoided, allowing us the
maximum freedom to go with the weather, not fight it, and yield to the
mood of the moment --- whether to press on to a new destination that
lies
over the horizon, visit the bustling market at the latest port of
call or just ramble ashore, swim and have a lunchtime barbecue on a
quiet beach before getting under way for the day.
The
'home' cruising area for the majority of our sailing holidays includes the
south coasts of Devon and Cornwall, the
Isles of Scilly, Brittany, Normandy and the Channel Islands. We also
offer cruises on the West Coast of Scotland, visiting its many sea
lochs and the islands of the Hebrides.
On longer
cruises we range further afield or have more time to wait for
the weather or dally in the chosen area, and this makes it possible to
specify destinations.
We also
take part in the annual Tall Ships Races - this year to Denmark,
Poland, Sweden and Norway and visit other maritime events. There is something in our programme to suit
all tastes.
We set sail with mixed parties on board: single people,
couples, friends or families, who book by the berth. However, it is
also possible for private parties to charter an entire vessel (see
Charter below).
On board all the boats there are no mechanical aids, and teamwork
is the order of the day. Technique is more important than strength, so
everyone can join in under the expert guidance of the
crew. Alternatively, you can just tuck yourself up in a corner
with a good book --- how much or how little you choose to do on your
holiday is
entirely up to you.
Provident
and Leader displace 85 tonnes and 110 tonnes
respectively. Each carries up to twelve guests, plus crew, including a
full-time cook. All meals are provided, and they are an important part
of the experience. The cooks prepare delicious dishes to the highest
standards using the best of ingredients, obtained from local suppliers
or markets en route. Dinner in particular is time to relax after the
activities of the day, and enjoy the company of friends old and new.
Spirit of
Britannia can accommodate nine guests, plus skipper, mate and
cook.
Golden Vanity can accommodate six guests, plus
skipper and mate.
Safety is an important consideration, and the boats are equipped to
DTI Code of Practice standards.
