Sailing Expeditions
SAILING EXPEDITIONS - TAILORED TO YOUR GROUP

Trinity works exclusively in partnership with your organisation and its staff, whether you represent a school, specialist youth service or charity. The combination of our unique boats and our highly skilled and professional crew ensure that each voyage is tailored to your group's needs. We aim to create an inclusive friendly and fun environment yet at the same time the nature of being at sea on a working vessel means that an informal structure runs through everything that we do. Trinity has many clients who bring groups year after year. We also help groups develop their own ideas for expeditions. In 2009 we will undertake a pilgrimage voyage to Iona and a sailing and kayaking expedition in Norway.

Our sailing grounds stretch from our home waters in the West Country, France and the Channel Islands to Scotland, Orkney, Norway and the Baltic, and our sailing programme is often designed around special events such as Tall Ships Races. If you have a particular destination in mind we may be able to design it into our overall programme for the season if you talk to us early enough.

Whatever you want to achieve please give the Trinity team a call on 01803 883355 so that we can discuss your needs with you. The Trinity Sailing Trust, our parent body, is dedicated to helping disadvantaged young people enjoy the benefits of sail training, and in certain circumstances can assist with funding. To find out more please speak to a member of the Trinity team.

Why do we call our voyages 'sailing expeditions'?

There is something about sailing on a one hundred year old vessel that brings out the explorer in all ages. The ships are self contained and the crew travel to new destinations by their own efforts. Weather influences the plan each day, and can stretch people to the limit. Each anchorage or port will be experienced from the sea - offering a totally different perspective to conventional travel.

It is our belief that by sharing in all aspects of the activity, strong relationships can be formed between the young people and the accompanying adult staff, which will be the basis for lasting change. Rather than a one-off experience where benefits might be lost once back home, the group leader helps the young people use the 'sailing expedition' as part of a life journey of positive personal development.

Safety
All of our vessels are maintained to a high standard under the strict safety requirements of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. As an experienced provider of residential activities we operate with in a structure of Standard Operating Procedures and policies and all activities have been risk assessed. We are an approved provider for many local educational authorities and are able to provide copies of risk assessments as well as vessel and insurance certification on request. All of our staff are highly skilled and qualified and have enhanced CRB checks.

ADDING VALUE

A voyage on our historic vessels is a unique adventure that is well worth including in a record of achievement, CV or job application. Our professional crew can help young people realise the value of what they are learning about themselves and their working relationships with others whilst on board, and these life skills can be highlighted at job or college / university interviews.

In addition to life skills, each trainee will learn practical sailing skills and can potentially gain national and internationally recognized awards to add value to the voyage experience. Everybody that takes part in a sail training voyage receives a completion certificate.
